Tiger Basketball
With the 2015-2016 season just beginning, all six of the Analy basketball teams are looking forward to the upcoming months. The boys Frosh/Soph coach is Ryne Wheeler, the JV boys are led by Jason Carpenter, and the Varsity boys are welcoming back Brett Paige. The Frosh/Soph girls are welcoming a new coach, Brian Miller, the JV girls are being coached by Raquel Gomes for the third year in a row, and the Varsity girls are excited for the return of Earl Pasamonte. With pre-season under way, all teams have gotten off to a great start and are looking forward to successful seasons. When asked about what she was looking forward to this season, Sarah Brown, a 12th grader on the Varsity girls team said, “I am looking forward to the team bonding, winning SCL, and going far in playoffs.” The girls program has undergone many changes in the past few months because of the unexpected death of head coach, Tom Corriveau. He will be greatly missed by all of his players and fellow coaches. However, he left behind a program dedicated to representing our school and always “playing with heart.” Jason Carpenter, the boys JV coach, was able to offer some insight into what the boys program will be like this season. “I am looking forward to this season very much. I think we have 18 guys on the JV team, which is a very large number. We have a mix of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. We are going to be doing a new motion offense this year which allows for a lot of creativity and movement, inspired by the Warriors. Lots of boys came out for the freshmen team this year. Ryne and Andy are coaching the freshmen program again. They have a lot of fun, they work hard, and they have 20 guys on that team. As far as the Varsity goes, they’re going to be fun to watch. They had a lot of sophomores on the team last year. They were very young. Those sophomores are obviously now juniors, so they have more experience, are physically stronger, and from what I’ve seen so far, they look like they’re going to have a good year. They have a great shot at winning league this year, and going into the playoffs and doing some damage.” With many changes occurring in both the girls and boys basketball programs it will be exciting to see how each of the teams’ seasons unfolds. Please come out and support your tiger basketball teams throughout their 2015-2016 seasons!
