Hello current juniors and class of 2027, time is flying by so fast that I can’t believe we will be entering our final year of high school this fall. It feels like only yesterday I started my freshman year and I am sure you all feel the same too. Whether you’re dreading or looking forward to senior year, you should make memories with friends over the summer. Here are a few fun activities that I plan on doing with friends (and I encourage you to do so too) over the summer to get excited for senior year.
As a way to keep a physical time capsule, you can decorate and personalize a senior box. This can be a box or container that stores small trinkets from your senior year. It is basically an accumulation of memorable moments you want to cherish. These items can be pictures from homecoming or prom, notes to yourself or from friends, and much more. For the box itself, it can be decorated however you want. You can use paint, stickers, glitter to create your own theme for the box. Some ideas include graduation year along with school colors, names of your friends, or personal interests of yours, it is completely up to you.
To celebrate personal growth, an important milestone, and hard work senior pictures are a must. These pictures are usually taken in the summer between junior and senior year. There are so many local photography businesses that you can book a session with. The portraits can either be casual or formal. You can also combine different locations and outfits depending on what kind of vibe you’re going for. Indoor or outdoor photos are both great options. Your photos can also feature props from your favorite hobbies to highlight activities you were involved in during high school. Recreating childhood photos is another cool idea. Again senior pictures are a great way to document this upcoming chapter of your life and can be heartwarming to look back on in a couple of years.
It might be a little too early for this next activity but start brainstorming decoration ideas for your graduation cap. It can be fun jotting ideas down or finding inspiration with friends. If you are a Pinterest user then you can start saving a few reference photos and categorize them in a separate board for senior related crafts. You might start getting extremely busy during senior year so it is a good idea to already start thinking about decorating your cap and what materials you will need when you start creating near graduation. Some ideas of what you can include on your cap can be a quote that speaks to you on a deeper level, the college you will be attending after graduation, or another personalized theme. There are many other options out there but those are a few that can help you get started.
