Most people may have heard about Analy’s Eco Club, but few have heard of the lesser-known but just as hard working parallel club of the compost world. Meet Compost Crew, an Analy Club devoted to creating a clean campus with forward thinking ideas. I interviewed Elia DelMonte and Zoey Lesik, the club presidents for more information.
The Compost Crew was created to help deal with ecological issues on campus. DelMonte and Lesik said it best, explaining that “We are trying to get compost to start at the school and be able to plant flowers around the campus. We are hoping to make a cleaner school and environment.” They pointed out that currently Compost Crew is a small club, but it has big potential to change things here on campus.
The current goal of Compost Crew is to get a functional compost system at the school. Bins would be put around the school and then sorted to create “new soil for planting flowers around the campus,” DelMonte and Lesik explained. It’s an ambitious project, but could drastically help our school become cleaner and more eco-friendly.
Members of the club don’t have to do a lot to join either – just make it to most meetings, share ideas, and support the club when they have events! DelMonte and Lesik noted that “The main responsibilities of an average member would be to show up to meetings and help share ideas. During club days, show up and support our table.”
The club meets on the library patio Wednesdays at lunch. However, there isn’t a meeting every week, so be sure to join the google classroom to receive all the updates and information. If you are interested in joining the club, email Zoey Lesik at [email protected] to be added to the google classroom.
