Chapter Officer Leadership Conference:
On September 23rd, the newly elected officer team spent two days in Ukiah attending workshops, connecting with other leaders, and dancing the night away. The club is proud of its two Regional Officers, Bailey Cassady and Jesus Martinez Diaz, for doing a great job with their Regional Officer workshops and hosting the entire conference. The State FFA Officer team, the NCR Officer team, Potter Valley High School, and all of the AG teachers for hosting a successful Chapter Officer Leadership Conference (COLC).
Redwood Region Resource Rally Industry Conference:
On September 12th, we had fourteen of our juniors and seniors attend the Redwood Region Resource Rally Industry Conference. They learned a lot about forestry and natural resources and were able to be very hands-on while learning how to identify, weigh, and measure fish, as well as learn about the importance of keeping streams healthy for our fish! They then attended a presentation where they listened to those who work in the industry talk about their jobs. They were able to see a tree cutter fall a tree and then see how the heavy equipment driver moved the tree. After doing so they were presented on the topic of heavy equipment. They had the opportunity to learn about work in the shop and the job of a logging truck driver. Finally, they ended their day learning how to measure and calculate broad feet to estimate how much lumber would be harvested from each tree. Overall, this conference was extremely informative and beneficial to those who want to work in a wood-based industry, aquatic-based, or don’t know yet! We are very thankful for all the people who came and presented to our lovely students, and another thanks to all of our instructors and tour guides! We can’t wait to see you next year with new Juniors and Seniors.
Tri-Tip BBQ Fundraiser:
On Tuesday, September 17th, we held our annual fall Tri-Tip Drive Thru-BBQ! We would first like to thank everyone who ordered and volunteered in order to make this fundraiser possible. We had a huge success! The profits made off this fundraiser will be going towards the funding for our members attending the 97th Annual National FFA Convention. Thank you to our sponsors and donors; Cotati Food Service, Ryan Deering, Sebastopol Hardware Center, Bill Baxman, Sons Hay & Straw, Baxman Family Livestock, and Grandma Patti’s Farm Fresh Eggs for helping make this event possible. We truly appreciate it! We look forward
to our future fundraisers and events.
Livestock Judging Competitions (Fall):
On Thursday, October 3rd, our wonderful coach Mrs. Lokka and her livestock judging team had a competition at Cow Palace. There are 7 students on our Livestock Judging Team; Angelo Escutia, Shellie Hance, John Justus, Ian Huffaker, Clare Maloney, Harlyn Mendez, and Ryan Saldana Sweeley. Here is some recognition of how our students did at the contest. Shellie Hance (Senior), 5th overall individual, and 4th high individual in beef.
Chapter Meetings:
Our 2024-2025 officer team has currently put on 2 chapter meetings this school year. We are
proud to announce we have shared various information with members of our chapter, as well as providing them pizza! We have started a new way to engage our members to have more motivation to attend our chapter meetings, as instead of having them sit on the bleachers and listen to our officers talk, we started making videos! Every AG teacher shows their classes the video, and when the chapter meeting finally comes, we can play a game! Also, we have more time to serve pizza! For this month’s game, we chose a huge game of rock, paper, scissors. Our members had a blast playing this! We can’t wait for our member’s reactions to next month’s game!
Opening/Closing Ceremonies:
If you haven’t heard, on October 16th, at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds we have 3 advanced teams, 2 novice teams, and our officer team participating in a speaking contest. There are six positions assigned to each individual, and depending on their role, they must recite their lines word for word. This year our officer team has a debate for this Opening/Closing contest. This year we are debating on having a community service night at the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Three of our officers approve, and two don’t. Our President will proceed to vote on the motion that we will be hosting a community service night at the Redwood Empire Food Bank! We have already begun practices, and we can’t wait to win it all. Good luck to all of our teams!
National Convention 2024:
