“We all have to study… why not study abroad?”
That’s the headline on the flier for this year’s Rotary study abroad program. The program is one of three that the Rotary Club hosts each year for international exchanges – which can be very rewarding, whether you are traveling yourself or hosting an exchange student. The Rotary options include going to school in a different country, traveling during the summer, or hosting. Traveling to other countries could be an amazing cultural experience for you, no matter where you go. If you don’t feel like traveling, but still want the cultural experience, think about hosting an exchange student! We have quite a few exchange students here at Analy this year, and you could help host them or students next year. Hosting is an opportunity to get an international cultural experience, without leaving home. If you are interested in traveling or hosting an international exchange student, then one of these programs could be for you. Read more on the next page!
#1: A Year of Study Abroad
This program allows one student, ideally a junior next year, to spend the year abroad and return to Analy for their senior year. One student will be selected to travel in August 2025. Rotary is looking for someone who is fairly self directed, has a 3.0 or better GPA, is resilient, and manages well with counselors abroad and host families.
#2: Summer Cultural Exchange
This program allows students of any high school grade level to travel abroad for the summer. The student would spend 3-5 weeks with a host family that has a youth of the same age and gender. After 3-5 weeks there, the host student would come and spend 3-5 weeks with the Analy family. This can be repeated every year and is open to students of the ages 15.5 – 18.5 on the dates of travel.
#3: Become a Host Family
Analy families host exchange students from other countries. Some exchange students this year are still looking for families to host them for 3-4 months later on this school year or next year.
