Hello! I’m proud to introduce my new column, Take A Hike. Each month, I’ll show you a new hiking spot and/or discuss environmental happenings. This month’s spot is one of my personal favorites in Sonoma County: Willow Creek! With trailheads in Occidental and Jenner and several different routes, you can adjust to your available time and hiking experience. If you’re up for a challenge, it’s possible to hike all the way to the ocean via trails that connect Willow Creek to Sonoma Coast State Park.

Important Notes/Links

You no longer need a permit to hike here, but you do need one for the adjacent Mendocino Timberlands- be sure not to trespass.

Always bring water, a source of light, a snack, and extra layers when you hike.
