End Of The Year Playlist

Pozdrav prijatelji! We know the end of the year can be hard and can make you want to give up hope. We understand. We’ve been there four times. So, here is our end of the school year playlist of songs to keep you alive the last two months before summer:

  1. “Escape” by Rupert Holmes (a.k.a. the “Piña Colada Song”). Yeah it’s about cheating on someone, but it’s called “Escape,” and that’s all we want to do this time of year (or quite possibly what we’ve wanted to do since August).
  2. “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees. Another classic and another important reminder. You can do it! Also, can you tell by the way I use my words that I’m nobody’s man and I definitely have time to talk (I never have plans)?
  3. “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie. Kind of obvious what this one means. The weight of your rapidly fluctuating GPA and extracurriculars builds up alarmingly fast.
  4. “Curious” by Hayley Kiyoko. I’m just curious. Is it gonna be on the test?
  5. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana. No explanation needed – you’ve all been in the locker rooms before.
  6. Literally every High School Musical song. (Except “What Time Is It” – you gotta wait until the last day for that one.) Otherwise, go nuts. We really think Disney captured the high school experience.
  7. “Helpless” from Hamilton. We know you might be feeling a little helpless when it comes to your grades, but not quite as helpless as Eliza when she looks into Alexander’s eyes. (Also face it, being a nerd is way more fun than not being one.)
  8. “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd because we know you are singing this song for summer. Or at least warmer weather. Not to mention this is just a fantastic song.
  9. “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. Sometimes school feels a little like a chain that’s holding us back. It feels like we will never break that chain. Don’t give up hope though – it will probably be moderately okay in the end.
  10. “Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2” also by Pink Floyd. Maybe if you tell yourself enough times that you don’t need no education, the rest of the world will start to believe you. Or school will end. Either way, you win. Also, if you don’t love Pink Floyd you are dead to us.
  11. “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. Seriously, never stop believing. We don’t care what you are believing in, just don’t stop.

While these few last months may seem unbearable, just take a listen to a few of these songs every once in a while, and you are guaranteed to feel better (or possibly super depressed). Anyway, make the most out of the time you have left. Don’t let your grades slip too badly, and remember that summer, and/or graduation, is on its way.
